Bela Pharmacy College organized work shop on Antimicrobial resistance



Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy (Autonomous) BELA (Ropar) recently organized a successful one-day workshop on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in collaboration with the SAS team, sponsored by Centrient Pharmaceuticals. Over 160 students actively participated in the event.

Mr. Rajiv Narang, Associate Director (Corporate), and Mr. Mohit Dhamija, Head of Sustainability at Centrient Pharmaceuticals, emphasized the pharmaceutical industry's pivotal role in combating AMR. Dr. Nusrat Shafiq from PGIMER, Chandigarh, provided insights into the public health and environmental impact of AMR. Dr. Anshu Bhardwaj from CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, delved into the biology of AMR and explored current research advances.

The workshop included sessions on learning from case studies to resist resistance, with a practical focus. A unique group activity titled "Be a Superhero against Superbug" engaged participants in a hands-on approach to tackle the challenges posed by AMR.

The workshop's success was attributed to the facilitation by esteemed professionals, including Dr. Sarah Hyder Iqbal and Dr. Somdatta Karak, along with Khushi Goel from the SAS team. Dr. Shailesh Sharma, the college's director, demonstrated a commitment to fostering educational initiatives and addressing critical issues in pharmacy. Program Coordinator Dr. Rahul Kumar Sharma likely played a key role in ensuring the event's smooth logistical details and overall coordination.

Dr. Shailesh Sharma expressed gratitude to the experts, SAS team members, and participants, reinforcing the college's commitment to providing quality education and raising awareness of critical issues within the pharmaceutical field.
