COPBELA Organized National Seminar on Antimicrobial Resistance

The Indian Pharmacy Graduate’s Association-Women Forum successfully organized an Online National Seminar on “Antimicrobial Resistance: A Silent Global Pandemic” on March 16, 2026. The event was jointly hosted by Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy and Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy. Conducted over a duration of three hours via Zoom and YouTube, the seminar witnessed active participation from 186 delegates, including students, academicians, and healthcare professionals from across India.

The seminar was convened by Prof. (Dr.) Shailesh Sharma and Dr. Kumar Gaurave. The organizing committee included Dr. Neelam and Dr. Geeta Deswal, who ensured the smooth execution of the event.

Renowned experts Prof. (Dr.) Avneet Saini and Dr. Roopal Mittal delivered insightful sessions on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), emphasizing its emergence due to misuse and overuse of antimicrobials in humans, animals, and agriculture. The speakers highlighted the growing threat of “superbugs,” challenges in infection control, and the global burden of AMR, particularly in India.

The seminar also focused on antimicrobial stewardship, rational prescribing practices, adherence to treatment guidelines, and preventive strategies such as hand hygiene and vaccination. A key highlight was the discussion on the One Health approach, underlining the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

Participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing the seminar as “informative,” “relevant,” and “the need of the hour.” The event concluded with a strong message encouraging all stakeholders to adopt responsible practices to combat AMR and safeguard global health.
