Medical Laboratory Sciences is an allied health profession which is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests. A Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is a healthcare professional who performs chemical, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological diagnostic analyses on body fluids. The scientist/technologist also performs equipment validations, calibrations, quality controls or run-by-run assessment, statistical control of observed data, and recording normal operations.

At College of Paramedical Sciences, the MLS are promoted to become specialists, qualified by unique graduate education or additional training to perform more complex analyses than usual

Eligibility:

We offer 3 years regular course for twelfth passed (10+2, Medical & Non-Medical) students. Also lateral entries are invited to second year of the course period for students who have completed there diploma in MLS.

EMPLOYABILITY AND SCOPE:

After successful completion of program a student will be capable of holding assignments in hospital and health care institutions, research laboratories and diagnostic centers. Successful candidate can set-up their own establishments. Students with an instinct to learn can do higher studies in specialized field of study and can progress as scientists and even can enjoy faculty positions in academic institutions. Students can get placed as scientific officer, quality assurance officer.

Medical lab technologists can mainly take-up two profiles, i.e. Lab Technicians and Lab Technologists. Their career largely takes place in the laboratory, analyzing blood and tissue samples, making cultures, preparing blood donations for transfusion and more. After the completion of the course the students can work as a Medical lab technologist in hospital laboratories, pharmaceutical firms, research facilities and other lab settings.
