Teej Festivities at Pharmacy College Bela
The Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Memorial College of Pharmacy hosted an exuberant Teej festival celebration on August 9, 2024, marking a day of cultural unity and joyous festivity. It was a vibrant display of traditional Punjabi culture, bringing together students and faculty members. The celebration began with a colorful procession featuring traditional folk dances, including Giddha and Bhangra, which set the tone for the day's festivities. Students donned bright, traditional attire, adding to the lively atmosphere that characterized the event. The festival's centerpiece was a grand display of Punjabi cuisine, with an array of traditional dishes and sweets offered to attendees. A highlight of the celebration was the traditional Teej-themed cultural program, showcasing local musical talents and Folk dance performances. The performances included renditions of folk songs dedicated to the spirit of Teej, celebrating the cultural significance of the festival. In his opening remarks, the college Director, Dr. Shailesh Sharma, emphasized the importance of such events in fostering a sense of community and preserving cultural heritage. “Teej is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of our traditions and values. Today’s event beautifully encapsulates the spirit of unity and cultural pride that defines our institution,” he said. The event, held on the college campus organized by “Care n cure Club” under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Satnam Singh, Co-ordinator of the club. He thanked the participants, faculty members, volunteers and of all the club members for their hardwork and dedication. He said the successful celebration was a testament to the college’s commitment to enriching student life and fostering cultural appreciation. Overall, the Teej festival at Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Memorial College of Pharmacy was a memorable occasion, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and the college’s dedication to celebrating and preserving this legacy. The winners of Mehndi competion was First Position Ms. Simran Kumari B.phm 7thsem, Ms. Sunaina B.Phm 5thsem got second position and Ms. Harmandeep Kaur from B.Sc MLS got the third position. In Folk dance Mr. Sukhmandeep and group from B.phm 3rd semester got first position, Ms. Gurleen Kaur from B.phm 7th semester got second position and Ms. Aelandeep and group from B.phm 3rd semester got third position. In traditional attire competition, Ms. Diksha from B.phm 7th The festival also featured a series of engaging activities, including a traditional mehndi competition, where students displayed their artistic skills through vibrant designs. The event was well organized by Dr. Navjot Kaur, Ms. Navjit Kaur, Ms. Ravinder Kaur, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur. semester got First position, Ms. Navneet Kaur from B.phm 3rd semester got second position and Mr. Prabhsimranjot Singh from B.phm 7th semester got 3rd position. The special highlight of cultural events was to declare Ms. Teej among faculty members. Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, assistant professor, Pharmacognosy and Ms. Simranjit Kaur Lohat assistant professor, Pharmaceutics was adjudged Ms. Beautiful tradional attire and Ms. Beautiful folk dance respectively. Ms. Ravinder Kaur, head of MLS department won Mrs. Teej title. The volunteers Ms. Kirandeep Kaur, Ms. Simran Kaur, Mr. Parminder Singh, Mr. Paramveer Dutt, Ms. Arshpreet Kaur, Mr. Ankit Kumar, Ms.Tania well arranged stage programmes.
