World Hepatitis Day Celebrated at Pharmacy College, BELA
The Amar Shaheed Baba Ajit Singh Jujhar Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy (Autonomous), celebrated World Hepatitis Day on July 29, to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Blumberg Baruch, a Nobel-prize winning scientist who discovered the disease and Hepatitis B virus in 1967. He developed a blood test for the disease, and also developed a vaccine for the virus in 1969 with his team. The event was organized by the Care ‘n’ Cure Club under the able guidance of Dr. Satnam Singh, Co-ordinator of the club. The Hepatitis Day event not only highlighted the importance of hepatitis awareness but also fostered a sense of community collaboration among students and faculty.
A highlight of the event was the poster presentation competition, where students of Pharmacy and Paramedical showcased their knowledge and creativity about hepatitis awareness and prevention. More than 80 students participated in the completion. The competition was intense, and judges declared Ishwarpreet Kaur of Sem B. Pharmacy7th as first, Rajwinder Kaur of 5th Sem second and Parneet Kaur of B.Sc MLS got third position.
The event was well organized by Dr. Navjot Kaur, Ms. Navjit Kaur, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Harpreet Kaur MLS, Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, and Ms. Ravleen Kaur.
Dr. Shailesh Sharma, Director of the colleges congratulated the winners and highlighted the importance of raising global awareness of hepatitis, affecting millions of people worldwide. He said our Colleges continue to play a vital role in educating and empowering future healthcare professionals to address global health challenges. He appreciated the efforts of the Care ‘n’ Cure club members and participants for making the event a resounding success.
